Policies at Northwest Hair Academy
All courses require a high school diploma or GED as basic proof of your ability to benefit from our training. Applicants for the Learning Leader Training must hold a valid Washington state license in cosmetology, manicuring, barbering, or esthetics.
Admissions
Our Admissions Leaders strive to provide information by which you can make an informed decision about your future. We never "sell" anyone on our schools. We prefer to make you welcome and either give you a tour or simply allow you to visit our schools leislurely so you can chat with our educational associates and administrative staff, sit in on a class, or talk with any of the Future Professionals who are not working with guests. Our Admissions Leaders and financial aid staff can walk you through the confusing jungle of federal financial aid, if you provide the proper paperwork, and then give you an accurate answer to your level of financial aid eligibility within 30 short minutes.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is available to those who qualify. Financial assistance is available in the form of PELL grants, Federal Family Education Loan Program, and private credit-based funding. If a student HAS NOT defaulted on a previous federal education loan, DOES NOT owe a refund on a federal grant, or HAS NOT borrowed in excess of the limits of federal education loans, he or she will be eligible for some forms of federal financial aid. Please contact the financial aid office for more information. Please contact the school for a copy of the school catalog and additional information that will be important for your career choice.

Policies and Standards
Northwest Hair Academy - A Paul Mitchell Partner School is committed to providing each Future Professional the opportunity to be educated in the methods, techniques, products, tools, and culture that embodies the success of our owners and John Paul Mitchell Systems. Our policies are founded on many years of successful operation in our salons and those of the market areas we serve. The specific details of our policies will be provided upon enrollment.
Licensing Requirements
To be licensed in Washington State, the Future Professional must graduate from a licensed school and pass written and practical examinations established or approved by the Department of Licensing.
For the year 2009, the published first-time average pass rate of all cosmetology examination takers statewide was 88%; Northwest Hair Academy schools averaged 99%. The average statewide pass rate for Learning Leader examinations in 2005 was 89%; our schools averaged 90%. We attribute this much-higher-than-average rate to the above-average educational commitment of our Future Professionals, the quality and skills of our Learning Leaders, and the fabulous Paul Mitchell Partner School culture that makes learning an adventure filled with fun and fulfillment.
